Filippo DeStefano
, Italo-American tenor born in the U.S.A., studied singing in Miami, Florida under the guidance of Dr. Arturo Di Fillipi, tenor, and former General Manager of the Miami Opera Guild. In 1960, DeStefano won a scholarship from the Miami Opera Guild to study in Milan, Italy where he continued his voice studies with Maestro Chiesa, (teacher of the famous Basso, Cesare Siepi).

In 1963, DeStefano made his debut in Ferrara, Italy in Verdi's Rigoletto. Following this success, DeStefano appeared in the Teatro Grande di Brescia in Giulio Cesare, and the famous Teatro Verdi in Padova. After these triumphs, DeStefano sang in over forty cities throughout Italy.

The range of Mr. DeStefano's repertoire is vast, encompassing the leading tenor roles in Tosca, La Boheme, Madama Butterfly, Rigoletto, I Puritani, La Favorita, Andrea Chenier, Pagliacci, and many others.

Mr. DeStefano has sung these roles with major Opera Companies throughout the United States, Europe, and South America. He has appeared with New York City Opera, New York; The Miami Opera Guild, Florida; Connecticut Opera Assn., Hartford, Connecticut; St. Petersburg Opera, Florida; Seattle Opera Company, Washington; New England Opera Assn., Massachusetts; Garden State Opera, New Jersey; and Omaha Civic Opera, Nebraska.

Filippo DeStefano can also be seen as the Tenor in the movie The Great Gatsby starring Robert Redford and Mia Farrow.

Mr. DeStefano's future appearances will be in the opera La Tosca by G. Puccini and the Requiem Mass by G. Verdi.
